Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has demanded that the Adamawa State gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Aisha Dahiru, popularly known as Binani, should be investigated by the police. Falana claimed that Binani’s acceptance speech confirmed that she was party to the illegal declaration, which he described as a ”charade”.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Barrister Hudu Yunusa, shocked the nation with what many had described as a coup when he usurped the power of the Returning Officer to declare Binani, winner of the State gubernatorial election. However, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, swiftly denounced the purported declaration of Binani as the winner of the Adamawa election by the REC. Falana said she has to be brought in by the police and investigated, and he expects the NBC to move in speedily and sanction the NTA because collation was still ongoing.
