In a bid to stem the tide of terrorism and other social vices in Nigeria, the Scout Association of Nigeria is set to partner with relevant agencies in the country.

Indeed, the Association has expressed its preparedness to meet the National Security Adviser (NSA), Babagana Monguno on campaign against terrorism in Nigeria.

The chief commissioner of Scout Nigeria, Dave Awunah made this known at a press conference held in Abuja.

“We have written to the National Security Adviser of the country, we are thinking of campaign against terrorism.

“The strategy is not to pick up arms, if you do not build the child correctly, so that he doesn’t go into those vices. You allow him to go into Yahoo. Nigeria should aspire to providing more funding for education. Education is formal and informal, ours in informal.

“Our youths are idle, we are in a depressed nation” Awunah said.

Consequently, he stated that the menace of drug abuse and cultism should be vigorously tackle by the relevant agencies, especially the supply chain to Nigeria.

He projected that the Scout Association of Nigeria under his leadership is willing to work with CADA, (Campaign Against Drug Abuse) to galvanize heads of primary and secondary schools in the country on the dangers of drug abuse at the International Conference Center in Abuja.

“We will identify the supply chain, the drug barons are wealthy people” he said.

According to Awunah, the Scout Association of Nigeria and the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Drug Abuse ( PACEDA) in Nigeria are in partnership, stressing that the partnership also involve War Against Drug Abuse Brigade (WADAB) all aimed at curbing drug abuse in Nigeria.

He maintained that part of the future plan is to move the scout population to 10 million in Nigeria, adding that “Quick and Immediate response is being sought with National Emergency Agency of Nigeria, (NEMA).

He explained that the collaboration will include the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Person (NAPTIP) and Citizens Tax Responsibility Awareness Campaign (C-TRAC).

“The scouts in Indonesia are agents of anti terrorism, they used the scout to campaign against terrorism, so there is relative peace in Indonesia” Awunah added.
