The Bishop of Makurdi Diocese Williams Anagbe has placed a principal on administrative leave following the viral pictures which sparked controversy showing a student of Mt Saint Gabriel’s Sec Sch Makurdi with bruises all over his body after being flogged.
Recall that we published a story about some students who were mercilessly flogged for staying away from classes while lessons were going on, the students were found at the back of the classroom playing chess game while the teacher was teaching .
Most Nigerians had strongly condemned the flogging of the students ,calling for sack of the principal and others involved.
Father John Asen, the principal of Mt St Gabriel Secondary School Makurdi was directed by Bishop Wilfred Anagbe to vacate his office on Administrative Leave with immediate effect following the preliminary investigation in a petition against him bothering on the physical abuse and torture of the students.
In enforcing the directive the education secretary Father Terungwa Tor has asked Father Asen to hand over to the vice principal Academics.
