After an explosion at a crude oil tapping station in the Rumuekpe town of Rivers state’s Emuoha local government area, numerous people are thought dead.
The incident was confirmed in a statement released on Friday by Fyneface Dumnamene, an environmentalist and executive director of the Youths and Environmental Advocacy Center.
He claimed that at around two in the morning on Friday, an explosion took place when the ignition system of one of the buses carrying crude oil to another location for artisanal processing was begun.
A comprehensive response from the state police command was not immediately available.
