The Governing Council of the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission was at the palace of His Royal Highness, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammad Mera, the Emir of Argungu on a homage.

Special Assistant, Media and Public Affairs to the Managing Director HYPPADEC reads that the Council Chairman, Honourable Barrister Terfa Joseph Ityav said, the Commission was established by the Federal Government to address ecological challenges occasioned by the establishment of hydroelectric Dams in six States of Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, Kogi, Benue and Plateau.
He informed the Emir that, the commission shares in the concerns of the affected communities and will work assiduously to address the challenges.
The Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammad Mera expressed appreciation on the visit and urged relevant authorities to support the commission in discharging it’s mandate through proper funding.
He said, the significance of Dams that provide electricity outweighs it’s adversities, hence the need for the affected communities to be compensated adequately describing HYPPADEC as an effective vehicle in achieving the desired result.
The Emir wish the Governing Council success and assured the Commission of his support.
