According to reports, a pregnant lady was killed by a wild hippopotamus at the ancient bridge where the River Benue crosses through Makurdi, the state capital of Benue. According to a witness testimony, the victim and several traders were on their way to the island to purchase vegetables for commercial use on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, when their boat was assaulted at the river’s edge. The woman, whose name was unknown, was reportedly being transported on an engine boat that had a problem and was switched to a wooden one. The victim drowned when the attacked boat was torn to pieces. On Wednesday, April 19, a search team was organized, and her corpse was found.
