The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has urged the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, to institute reconciliation committees aimed at resolving internal party grievances. According to a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi, Abbas made this plea during the APC stakeholders’ meeting for the North-West zone in Kaduna on Sunday.
Highlighting the importance of bringing back aggrieved members to the APC fold, Abbas stressed that fostering peaceful coexistence among party members is crucial for the party’s progress. He emphasized the need for reconciliation efforts to bridge existing divides and ensure harmony within the party.
Abbas proposed the immediate formation of reconciliation committees at both the national and state levels to facilitate dialogue and address grievances. He urged the National Chairman and the National Vice Chairman to take swift action in this regard, emphasizing the significance of making amends and welcoming back those who may have felt marginalized.
The speaker’s recommendation comes in the wake of reported internal conflicts within the APC, particularly following the conclusion of the recent general elections. These tensions pose a potential threat to the party’s unity and effectiveness in governance.
By initiating reconciliation efforts, the APC aims to promote dialogue and address the concerns of disaffected members. This proactive approach seeks to strengthen party cohesion and foster a more unified approach to governance.
The response of Ganduje to Abbas’s appeal and the effectiveness of the proposed reconciliation endeavors in resolving internal party divisions remain to be seen.
