Atiku Abubakar Isah, an influential figure within the All Progressive Congress (APC) hailing from Kogi State, has voiced his unwavering support for the embattled national chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, asserting that Ganduje possesses the essential leadership qualities needed to steer the party forward.
In a recent conversation with journalists, Isah, a former secretary of the defunct All Nigerian People’s Party (ANPP) in Kogi State, emphasized the importance of pragmatic leadership over sentimental considerations. He expressed his confidence in Ganduje’s ability to lead the party to greater heights, citing Ganduje’s loyalty to President Bola Tinubu and his track record in fostering unity and peace within the party.
Isah highlighted the necessity for the national chairman to align with President Buhari’s vision, noting that Ganduje’s support from the president and the majority of APC governors underscores his suitability for the role.
Furthermore, Isah dismissed speculations about the North Central region’s push for a consensus candidate, asserting that such efforts could destabilize the party. He pointed out the internal divisions within the North Central as a barrier to producing a viable candidate for the national chairmanship position, reaffirming his support for Ganduje.
Isah cautioned against external interference in APC affairs and affirmed the North Central’s solidarity behind Ganduje. He assured that the region would continue to back Ganduje’s efforts to revitalize the party for the betterment of Nigeria.
Despite reports of Ganduje’s suspension by his ward in Kano State, Isah noted that the legal proceedings have intervened in the matter. However, he acknowledged the pressure mounting on Ganduje due to the silence from President Buhari, progressive governors, and other key stakeholders within the party.
